Using Molecular Dynamics Simulation to Analyze the Feasibility of Using Waste Cooking Oil as an Alternative Rejuvenator for Aged Asphalt

The purpose of this study was to investigate the regeneration effect waste cooking oil (WCO) on aged asphalt with molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, comparing it a rejuvenator. Firstly, models virgin and were established by blending four components (saturate, aromatic, resin, asphaltenes). Then, different dosages rejuvenator WCO (6, 9, 12%) included in model for its regeneration. After that, MD simulations utilized researching mechanical cohesive properties recycled asphalt, including density, viscosity, energy density (CED), shear modulus (G), bulk (K), elastic (E). results show that values relatively lower than existing experimental literature, which is mostly attributed fact heteroatoms molecules not considered simulation. On other hand, addition decreased (E) improving CED. Moreover, nature gradually restored increasing or contents. Compared rejuvenator, viscosity more effectively through adding WCO, while CED recovery low. This implies could restore partial aging proves possibility using as an Additionally, simulation played important role understanding interactions among will serve guideline better design optimize content.
